This is a flat top cadet cap, the shape that has been on working men's heads since the field caps of the 1940s. The crown is low and squared off instead of domed, so the cap follows the line of your head rather than stacking height on top of it. The brim is short and curved down, enough to cut the glare without shading half your face.
Why the fabric matters
The cotton is stone washed before the cap is sewn, so the colour comes out uneven, lighter along the brim edge and across the stitch lines. It arrives already looking like a cap you have owned for years, and it is soft from the first day instead of stiff for a month.
