Two problems kill a summer cap. It cooks your head by noon, and the front panel is either empty or covered in somebody else's brand name. You end up sweating under a billboard you did not agree to wear.
This is a five panel trucker built the old way. The front panel is structured twill that stands up on its own, and everything behind it is coarse open mesh. Not a mesh print, not a fine screen. Real open weave you can see daylight through, across the whole back and both sides.
Why the crown is tall
A high structured crown leaves an air gap between the fabric and your scalp. Heat rises off your head, hits that gap and leaves through the mesh instead of sitting against your hair. A low soft crown presses down and traps it. That gap is the whole reason this shape has been on job sites and race tracks for fifty years.
